Clary Sage and Hair Growth

Clary Sage is my very favorite oil because of the smell but little did I know what I was doing for my hair!

Clary Sage is in the family Labiatae, or mint. The sweet and herbaceous scent of this oil certainly gives it enough character to stand alone however, beneficial qualities of Clary Sage are myriad.

Native to Southern Europe, Clary Sage boasts a unique chemical composition that is up to  75% esters, such as linalyl acetae . These anti-inflammatory properties compliment and naturally support the nervous system rather that impede or interrupt its processes like some medications can.

Clary Sage blends well with Cedarwood, Bergamot, Lavender, Geranium, Sandalwood and Ylang Ylang. When combined, the result is a powerful aromatherapeutic treatment rich in phytochemicals such as: diterpenes, sclareol, myrcene, flavonoids and rosmarinic acid.

These compounds are very similar to estrogen which supports balanced hormonal secretion. This is important because it keeps the dominant hair follicles stimulated and in the active growth phase, or androgen phase, longer and helps aid the body in toxin removal which in turn supports overall hair health.
